Jasmin Tabatabai
Jasmin Tabatabai (born June 8, 1967 in Teheran) is a German-Iranian singer, songwriter and actress.
Until the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Jasmin Tabatabai lived in Teheran. Then she migrated with her mother to Germany. After school, she studied drama in the arts college in Stuttgart. During her work as actress in Berlin, she co-founded the band Even Cowgirls get the Blues as singer and songwriter.
Through the 1997 movie Bandits, she got known to a greater public. With this movie, where she played a prisoner on the run, she gained critical acclaim as actress as well as for the soundtrack, written mostly by her. The record sold more than 700'000 times.
Her first album as a solo artist, Only Love, was released in 2002 along with the single After You Killed Me. She founded her own record label, polytrash, providing for her need of personal freedom. She also composed songs for the soundtrack of the 2004 movie Iron Jawed Angels togeter with the American singer Tico Zamora, whom she had married the year before. Read more on Last.fm.
